Lucas VanDeWoestyne, director and chief operating officer of Apex CPAs & Consultants, has been named a partner in the firm. Launched in 1998, Apex is an accounting, advisory and tax services firm based in St. Charles.

As an owner, VanDeWoestyne will build upon Apex's successes in helping other businesses with their financial blueprints. "This is the first time in our 20-year history that we've brought in a partner. Lucas has exemplified the leadership skills and business acumen required to serve our clients, grow our culture, and be an owner in the company," said James Chakires, Apex president and CEO.

VanDeWoestyne attributes his work as director and COO as keys to taking on added responsibility. "Those roles made me more confident about my decision-making and were stepping stones to becoming a partner," he said. "A couple of years ago, Jim said: 'Think and act like you are a partner' and I've challenged myself to do that. I look forward to the full experience of being a business owner."

VanDeWoestyne is a Certified Public Accountant and has held positions of controller and manager of assurance services prior to joining Apex more than six years ago. He specializes in audits, reviews and compilations; as well as a multitude of other services including monthly and quarterly accounting, budgeting and forecasting.

A resident of Elgin, VanDeWoestyne enjoys spending his free time with his family and friends, modifying and racing cars, and listening to a wide variety of music. He earned his Bachelor of Business in Accountancy in 2000 from Western Illinois University in Macomb.
